Animal care needs your help. Whatever your skills are we can make good use of your free time.
Volunteers are a huge asset to the charity and we simply could not carry on the work we do without the help from local people. We are very grateful to each and every person that would like to be involved in the charity and welcomes everybody.
You need to be over 18 years and registered with us before you can start (under 18’s are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult) registration is easy and does not take long once your paper work is handed in we can get you started.
Volunteers can help any day of the week 10am-3pm if it's once a month or 5 days a week we are always glad to have a helping hand.
If you would like any more information about how to become a volunteer please call and ask to chat to Linda on 01524 65495 or email her firstname.lastname@example.org
We have a big site to look after and each day there is a lot to do with so many animals on site to care for we are constantly busy and always need help.
Volunteers needed for :
We home hundreds of animals each year and each owner needs a home check before they can take their new friend home. We need volunteers to help us make sure these homes are perfect for our animals to move into.
We often pick up goods for our charity shops from kind supporters who donate the van runs are sorted by Debbie and Richard but they can always use a helping hand. We also pick up and transport dogs to other rescues and need help with driving sometimes long distances.
With a very busy working site we always have things that need fixing.
Sometimes with over 45 dogs all in need of a good walk and play in our paddocks the staff are always happy to see helpers with dog walking. It's fantastic to get our dogs out of the kennels having fun and socialising with new people as much of possible. Please note we sometimes have waiting lists for people to work with the animals, as it is very popular.
Cats love attention and love our team of volunteer cat cuddles. If you love cats and think you could give some of our cats an hour of cuddles they will appreciate it. Please note we sometimes have waiting lists for people to work with the animals, as it is very popular.
We have a large site to take care of so anyone who enjoys gardening is welcome to help us keep the place looking its best. If you would like to join our popular gardening group their meeting updates can be seen on our website.
Anyone interested in foster care is welcome to chat to the managers. We need foster homes for older dogs, young pups, pregnant cats, young kittens. We already have a strong team of foster homes who are wonderful but we can always use more help especially between April to September. Knowledge and experience is required.
Fundraising is the charity's main source of income and we work very hard to do as many events as we can to both raise funds and awareness for the charity. We need people to run information stalls, collection buckets at local supermarkets, and lots more. Or if you would like to hold your own event for Animal Care please chat to us about how we can help.
Charity shop sorters
The charity shop in Lancaster is always in need of people to help sort and keep the shop looking its best at all times. The shop is open 6 days a week 9am-4pm even just a few hours a week would be appreciated.
Tea room helpers
The tea rooms is a busy friendly place to volunteer, we need people who are able to help the team cook, bake and serve everyday between 10am-3pm if you can only help once a week it really will make a difference.
Animal Care takes in placements from schools and collages but we book up fast. All work experience placements must talk to the managers to check availability and complete the relevant paper work.
